Apple expected to have plans to launch 15 inch MacBook Air, 12-inch MacBook https://www.techlime.com/apple-expected-to-have-plans-to-launch-15-inch-macbook-air-12-inch-macbook-475/ https://www.techlime.com/apple-expected-to-have-plans-to-launch-15-inch-macbook-air-12-inch-macbook-475/#respond Sat, 11 Jun 2022 08:16:03 +0000 https://www.techlime.com/?p=475 The 12-inch MacBook will be the smallest in Apple's MacBook lineup and is rumoured to arrive by end of 2023 or early 2024.]]>

Days after Apple uncovered new models of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, the rumours have started again. Reportedly, Apple has plans for a 15-inch MacBook Air, and a 12-inch MacBook.

The 15-inch MacBook Air is anticipated to be a wider version of the 13.6-inch variant that Apple unveiled at WWDC 2022. The report suggests that Apple was planning to launch the 15-inch variant alongside the 13-inch but decided to drop the idea. It is expected that the 15-inch MacBook Air will feature the same M2 processor which Apple unveiled with the 13-inch MacBook Air.

Reportedly, the 12-inch MacBook will be the smallest in Apple’s MacBook lineup and is expected to arrive by end of 2023 or early 2024 as per rumours. If the 12-inch MacBook does arrive then it will be the smallest version Apple has launched in four years. It was in 2019 when Apple discontinued the 12-inch MacBook.

Reports also suggest that Apple will upgrade the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. However, these upgrades will be incremental in the sense that the design aesthetics will remain the same but the processing power will be improved. The current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro feature M1 Max and M1 Ultra processors. Reportedly, the M2 Max processor-likely to feature in upgraded MacBook Pro models will have 12 processing cores and up to 38 graphics cores. The M1 Max processor has 10 processing c and up to 32 graphics cores.

Apple’s rumored 12-Inch MacBook could possibly be pro model with M2 Pro and M2 Max https://www.techlime.com/apples-rumored-12-inch-macbook-could-possibly-be-pro-model-with-m2-pro-and-m2-max-473/ https://www.techlime.com/apples-rumored-12-inch-macbook-could-possibly-be-pro-model-with-m2-pro-and-m2-max-473/#respond Sat, 11 Jun 2022 08:13:46 +0000 https://www.techlime.com/?p=473 Reportedly, Apple is considering launching an all-new 12-inch notebook at the end of 2023 or in early 2024. Reportedly, Apple is considering launching an all-new 12-inch notebook at the end of 2023 or in early 2024. Gurman said it is unclear if the 12-inch model would be a low-end MacBook or a higher-end MacBook Pro.

A Twitter user “Majin Bu” has claimed that the model will be a new 12-inch MacBook Pro that may be equipped with Apple’s next-generation M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. In the MacBook Pro, Gurman said the M2 Max will feature a 12-core CPU and up to a 38-core GPU, while the M1 Max maxes out with a 10-core CPU and a 32-core GPU.

Apple has released both lower-end as well as higher-end 12-inch notebooks in the past. At the low end, Apple introduced an ultra-thin 12-inch MacBook that weighed just two pounds in 2015, but the notebook was discontinued in 2019. And at the higher end, Apple offered a 12-inch PowerBook G4 in the mid-2000s, prior to the original MacBook Pro.

In any case, Apple silicon chips deliver great performance per watt, paving the way for Apple to introduce ultra-portable, high-performance MacBooks without the thermal constraints of Intel processors that the company used over the last decade and a half.

Majin Bu has a hit-or-miss track record with Apple rumors, but he has gained some credibility recently after tweeting that Apple was planning a new 14.1-inch iPad Pro. This rumor has since been backed by very reliable display industry consultant Ross Young, who tweeted that his supply chain sources have confirmed that Apple is indeed planning a new 14.1-inch iPad Pro with a mini-LED display that could launch in 2023.
